Yachts and Visiting Boats
57deg.02'N - 05deg.41'W The Old Forge 10 Private Moorings in the Bay of Inverie, Loch Nevis (Gaelic for Heaven), seven nautical miles from the fishing port of Mallaig. Pick up one of our moorings (11 marked bouys with pick-ups) and dinghy in. Dinghys can be left on the beach at the old jetty, in front of the pub or use the Pier.
The stop over every one is talking about on route to the Small Isles, Hebrides, Rum/Rhum, Eigg, Canna, Muck, Skye or simply hanging out sailing the West Coast of Scotland. (Please don't leave dinghies tied directly in front of the pier steps as this restricts access for local and visiting boats.) We have a shower facility with hairdryer, telephone, internet, metfax, water available at the back of The Old Forge. Moorings are free to patrons dining at The Old Forge. A nominal fee of £10 per yacht per night is payable at the bar, for non diners and assists us in our mooring inspection and crown estates licenses each year. Thank you for your co-operation.
The Old Forge Pilotage
Yacht moorings are on the Bay of Loch Nevis. As you approach the village
of Inverie from Mallaig, pub moorings are situated from the right hand side of
the pub and across to almost in front of the pub. The new pier is sited to the
left of the pub and has a nightlight facility on timers which are
manually operated from the pier. We do not have refuse disposal facilities here on Knoydart as all our refuse is manually collected and shipped out. Thank you for respecting this.
New Pier
Our new pier is "all weather states", non tidal, and has a purpose
built slipway also. The Pier is lit at night by timed manually operated buttons
on the pier itself and has a dog leg offering shelter where needed.
Being located where we are, the weather and sea conditions play a large part in our lives. The following links are very useful when considering this.
